Gordon 2 rod = Gordon 1 Blank?

I have read that the Gordon 2 is infact made with the very same blank as the Gordon 1! Is anyone in a position to back this up? I find it hard to believe that this would be the case though it is quoted that it does retain much of its predecessors qualities!

Proud owner of both a Sharpes G 1 and SG 2 tip section following replacement mix up. There are some noticeable differences. SG2 blank is narrower diameter,they have different rings, different ring spacing, different colour blank and differing lengths. So .....not the same.
