our loch is getting overtaken with weed what is the best way to get rid of it, tried cutting it but it grows back just as quick, and we are not allowed to poison it as sepa says it is not allowed anymore,

I've seen quite a few lochs/fisheries being weeded using a boat with a looped chain, dragged along the bottom; the weeds are allowed to come into the bank then harvested.

i know exactly how you feel.we use something similar below and as you say when you cut it the damn thing grows back just as quick.we also use an iron bar and tow it behind the boat.

I think you really need to pluck it out from the roots to make a difference . When you cut it down and drag it to the bank bits fall and re root therefore you end up with more . Spoke to one fishery owner who is getting divers in to pluck his weed this year .

yes it cuts in the front and blocks up the prop complete pain in the jacksie.
the best way is to just work the edges slowly in (apparently)
i did think of putting waders on and using a sythe but who know what the hse would make of that.
or if you've got a powerfull enough engine do it in reverse.

Only one thing for it, Blood sweat and tears.

We use a pitch fork with a long handle and twist it in and around the bottom steams and pull it out by the roots.

A light anchor on a rope is also used to throw in to the hard to reach areas.

Mike Barrio at Haddo recommended this but i have not got around to getting one yet.

Good luck!

ha thats just what i typed in as well
i remember seeing a carp angler do the anchor thing when he wanted to clear a swim.
chemical wise copper sulphate has been mentioned but as were a reservoir and obviously we don't really want chemicals in the water who knows what action to take.
