Default possible job later on

I had bought a Wychwood reel and the only thing i have to complain about is the black paint it is coming off with the slightest of knocks , bumps. and the bare metal is exposed.
I dont want to send the reel off as i am then without a reel.
Dose anyone have any idea as to how much powder coating would be i would not have thought it would be all that expensive.
Or is the Whycwood rep still a member on the forum.

Try Dubblasters in Guardbridge (nr St Andrews), Martyn Rabbit (admin@bubblasters.co.uk)is a gent and has many happy customers. Not that expensive either, a reel would probably be £30. Although i think powder coating is a bit of an extreme measure.JB

alex i aint paying for yet an other sodding reel less than 1 year into the hobby and i dont fancy a 3rd sodding reel.

Had a search on google and mostly on salmon forums and state side those that have had the problem with paint coming away from any reel, they just use smooth finish hammerite so will buy a tin once more of the paint has come away first.

dont know how easy it would be to completely re paint the entire reel as i just found a tin of smooth finish hammerite but it silver rather than black lol.

i would ring wychwood and explain whats happening and see if they can help you. Take a few photos and email them also.

Am sure they wouldnt mind sending out a replacement, then you sending yours back. Anytime i have any dealings with them, its been straight forward.

Yep Wychwood have certainly gone down hill, the quality of the last drogue I bought was rubbish. If the paints flaking of then it's not been basecoated before topcoated.

i have not been around long enough to know how wychwood used to be.
But most of my gear is Wychwood. there boat bag which is fantastic ample room , vest , shirt. its just the reel thats a bit of a let down. would have thought we all bump and knock our reels when out and about and while boat fishing. surely i am not the only one who knocks and bumps the reel .....

just sent them an email and see what reply i get tomorrow or Monday.

i currently have a wychwood truefly rod and reel pair and am very happy with them.

Also running a wychwood wildrun on my salmon rod. NO issues with either.

I also have a pair of there £20 polarized glasses which i have to say are **** poor but other than that m happy enough with wychwood
