Default wheelie boat rip off

As most will know I smashed my leg and ankle 3 week ago and I'm going mad just lying on my back, so thought I could get a chair and fish from the wheelie boat at Siblyback for a day.
I rang and asked for details and was told it was £45 to hire it for the day. which seems a rip off as a normal boat is £15.
It seems a bit odd that because someone has a disability that they should pay 3 times as much, but on saying that the wheelie boat does have an engine.
Anyone know what price's are elsewhere, and views on this price.
Mike

Havent been yet Alex, and don't know if I will!!
The worst of this is its a south west lakes trust reservoir and at the recent Royal Cornwall Show they were promoting their disabled support and access policy.

Shocking!!!

That's virtually a weeks DLA (mobility). They're taking the pee.

Is it possible the £45 includes a refundable deposit for the engine? Just in case you decide to make a break for it with engine under arm, wheeling around in circles.

Eitherway, It's disgusting and I wouldn't even consider going.

This sounds a bit like discrimination to me.

That's not good

I appreciate the extra cost of purchasing these boats etc but I'd be more than happy to pay an extra quid or so and make all the boats the same cost.

I'd be taking this further.

Thanks goldenolive that's handy to know, but I'm hoping that when I'm there in August that I will be able to get in my own boat and fish Melvin, fingers crossed.
Koi I am awaiting a response from the area manager of SW lakes trust to an e-mail asking why the big hype in charges, will keep you updated.

Have you asked why? i am sure the wheelie boat was bought with a grant of some sort or another... it isnt like they are offering a premium service.. speak to your local councils disability officer..

make a fuss....
or get a float tube and a rotary egg whisk..

Having now spoken to the SWL area manager I'm pleased to report to all that the charge for hiring the wheelie boats for fishing is the same as an ordinary rowing boat, and it was a mistake of the staff for quoting the higher price which is for sightseers who wish to use it.
So happy days are here again.
