Default Fitty, thought it couldn't get any worse ....

The final nail in the coffin for Loch Fitty ...

"Once one of Scotland’s premier Trout Fisheries, with 170 acres of water in unspoilt countryside. No longer open for fishing, it has sadly been allowed to deteriorate and is being prepared for draining by Scottish Coal prior to opencast mining taking place."

From here :- Things to do

Any truth in this ?

I heard a rumour along the same lines through the week, it will be an extension to the Lassodie opencast.
I also heard a rumour there would be some ponds created by the mining company at the current dig site near the Kelty woods, although this is not confirmed.

It's a real shame how the Fitty ended up, indeed Mr. Philp has a lot to answer for

This was nothing to do with anyone apart from the company that owned the mineral rights to the ground. They decided to mine for coal. jim

"170 acres of water in unspoilt countryside" That's a bit of a overstatement is it no! Lets be honest the fitty was a load of mince for ages, if you cant be bothered to put the effort into a fishery you've got no chance of it making money. It's no wonder the coal board mothballed it, fife is a joke for having any place worth while to fish .
