Default Will knots vary in strength and size each time you tie them?

I usually use the Eugene Bend to attatch a fly (size 14 or 16) to my tippet (6X or 7X), but I find that sometimes the knot does not "sinch up" as well as other times, what I mean is that sometimes it forms a nice neat cyllindrical shape at the eye of the fly, and others it forms a much less orderly shape. (I almost always hear a click, when I tighten it, which is supposed to happen.) It's getting very frustrating as I don't feel confident without a nicely sinched up knot. Can I just expect that it will go wrong like this sometimes, or is there a solution?
