Default Almond Disaster

Reports this morning of a very serious oil or chemical spillage on the Almond near Livingston. One witness reports hundreds of dead fish and oiled up birds. SEPA are aware but not commenting.

It's always the same. How many times do we need to hear this story. We really need to bang some heads ,and make them ''Really'' pay.Not some paltry sum.

I was just down fishing the Almond on Saturday morning as well and looking forward to going again... Though I agree there has to be some real harsh punishments handed out. Companies get off far too lightly for these "accidents"!

Default Almond Disaster.

It has been confirmed that this was a result of vandalism in the abandoned EDS building (Buchanan House) late on Wednesday although no action was taken until sometime on Thursday. No explanation has been offered as to why large quantities of diesel were stored in this building. The burn is very low just now and there is no source of fresh water to help flush it away.

Absolute and total disaster.

have let them know i will be in area tomorrow with camera, and expect to see some sort of investigation or clean up if required.
Sepa just called me back (12:15am) to say they will def. be on case tomorrow with a view to clean up.
