Default Rod wont come appart, HELP

Ok i have a slight problem. The two middle sections of my 4 piece fly rod wont come appart. I have tried hot water, pulling each end with a friend and even tried to pull it when secured in a vice. After all this it is not budging.
Any advice on other methods i could try would be much appreciated

Thanks

Jonathan

have you tried twisting as you are pulling when your friend is helping you, also you could use a marigold glove for extra grip

Twisting is a complete No, No! Marigolds are a good tip though.

Try wrapping a bag of frozen peas around the joint - works every time for me.. but be carefull. Condensation on the blank can make it slippery and you don't want to crush a rod ring.

The best way I have ever come across is for two people to pull but each person has a hand on each section (i.e. either side of the stuck joint). Has never failed me.

A bit tricky to explain but I will give it a go; Place the rod behind your knees, hold the rod in your hands with your hands outside of your legs, grip the rod firmly and push your knees apart. Always works for me.

John, this will sound daft but i guarantee it'll work.

Put the rod behind your knees. hold each side of the frozen joint firmly and put your hands behind your knees in a slightly crouched position. Now sharply open your knees. It'll carry your hands and pop out the joint for sure. Works every time.
