Default Sheffield Trout in the Town in Jon Beer feature

Hi - just a heads up to say that we hosted Jon on the SPRITE section of the Don recently and the resultant article will be in the July "Trout and Salmon".

I managed a display that at least resembled "competence in angling" and, consequently, Jon got some good pictures of the fish. Hopefully this will give a good bit of publicity for all the work that SPRITE are doing on that section of the river (the photos I've seen are lush).

The July issue is out during the last week in June.

A selection of my own photos (Not as good as Jon's!) of recent urban trout captures, check out Jon's article for his photos as well as any contact details for the UK-wide Trout in the Town project, for SPRITE in particular or see some of the helpful links below for how you can find out more and offer support:

Was a great article, enjoyed it alot. Loved how you saw the two boys fishing the bait on one bank and you with your fly rod on the other

Nice work Paul,

not a rod in sight on your photos - did you go native and catch those with your bare hands??

cheers
Brian

hahahhaha

I must have slipped up on one of the shots - coz my rod creeps into the bottom left corner!

The ones where I am grinning into the camera were taken by passing dog-walkers who were press-ganged into holding my camera! I thought I'd try to get some variety from the old "camera in one hand/fish in the other (rod thrown onto bank..)" shots.

I should probably point out that only one of those fish was from the Don - and the rest were from other urban rivers (none of which cost any money to fish as long as you are not trespassing).

That explains it - I didn't recognise that ceramic drain pipe in one of the pictures as being from the Don..... I must be plumbing new depths of saddo, you thought train spotters were tragic, I'm becoming a drain spotter
