Default Rod postage from NI- South Africa

Anyone know of any cheap couriers that would be cheap to send a rod from Northern Ireland to South Africa?
Cheapest I got so far is £34

Thanks

Hi Hutchy, I think registered parcel post will be fine, and a whole lot cheaper than the courier rip off.
I have sent you as mail, as I finally managed to get the Pay Pal working....feel like a bit of an idiot for struggling with it, as it turned out to be quite easy.
You should have the payment by now.

Payment received and email sent back. thought i'd ask just in case anyone knew of any. However I'll just go registered post via Royal Mail I think.

Hutchy and Andre

I sent a #14 Abel through the post to a chap in Cape Town.

The Post Office can insure up to £200 (from what I recall) and can track it until it leaves the UK.

Andre, this chap in Cape Town then notififed his Post Office that he was expecting it and gave them the tracking number...........this put the wind up them so that they knew they couldnt nick it (not saying it was them but we all knwo how light fingered the South African posties can be)

I believe it can be sent tracked within the UK and signed for in SA.

Andre, I am likely to be coming out to SA in November if you wanted anything specifically brought out? We will be in JHB stopover to DBN and then down to CT.

Best of luck.

Ben

Ya, nicking in SA seems to be a favorite hobby unfortunatly, but the Post office has had such negative press because of this, that they are really trying to up their image by clamping down, so the problem is not as bad as it used to be. In the past, it was guaranteed that you would have a less than 50/50 chance of getting your stuff, but now, it's no worse than the world average. Thanks for the offer to bring stuff when you comming, I will remember that.
When you are in the Cape, I trust you will contact me for a day or two on the rivers. Would be nice to fish with you.

Thanks for the replies. Will send it registered anyway and hope it arrives... i'm sure it will (fingers crossed).

And Andre in the unlikely event that you are ever in the Uk and pop across to Belfast or anywhere relatively nearby (Northern Irish verison rather than S.A Belfast lol) i'll be happy to show you around if you want a bit of fishing!

Thanks Hutchy, it's not such an unlikely event...we are planning to come accross the pond sometime. My Missus Tania is a nice girl from Essex, and here dear old granma was kind enough to leave a few quid for her when she departed. The UK tax laws issues are quite unforgiving when it comes to getting inheritance out of UK, so we decided that we might just come accross and blow the lot on a holiday, that is definatly going to involve some cane, tweed and creel.

Well if you're in Northern Ireland and fancy a bit of fishing you could give the dollaghan a go which is night fishing for migratory brown trout.

Moyola Angling Club : Dollaghan fishing

Send me a pm if you're ever coming and either i'll be able to take you, or else I could get someone to take you if youre looking for something like sea fishing or something that I don't know much of.
