I went to Ravensthorpe a couple of weeks ago, and that was my first time there. I was fishing from the bank as the boats were fully booked, but i managed to catch 2 fish off the dam.

When i went the weather was ridiculously hot, it was that freakishly hot weekend we had a couple of weeks ago. I decided to get there early to catch the cool part of the day, and sure enough i caught both fish before 11am.

If i were you i would definitely get a boat if there are some still available, as the bank fishing areas seemed limited.

The weather looks a lot better for fishing this week, so i would think you would do better than i did.
As for tactics, i was fishing a floating line, long leader (due to sunny weather and no wind), and a goldhead damsel on the point, with two buzzers on droppers. I got 1 fish on the buzzer, and one on the goldhead damsel.

A lot of fish were being caught on damsel nymphs when i went, so i would definitely give those a try, as well as the usual teams of buzzers.

I fished Ravensthorpe from my float tube last Friday or should that be FRYday? I caught on deep fished bloodworm and black pupae - long leader and floating line. Depending upon wind direction, the dam could be a good option at Ravensthorpe with easy access to deep water. Failing that, Pitsford does offer wider opportunties for bank fishing.

Ravensthorpe will be your best bet - easy access to the dam, right by the fishing lodge and casting platforms are not excessively far along the lodge bank.

2 fish ticket with catch and release ( you have to keep the first fish) is £21.

Both Ravensthorpe and Pitsford are difficult from the bank at the moment, especially during the day. It seems to be first thing in the morning and last thing at night to have a chance of a few fish.
