Default Tarvie

hi Wiley, Tarvie is just north of Dingwall near Strathpeffer and about an hour and a half from Fort William...there are lots of places near,I think Fishtales is the man to ask.

Thanks for the recommendation Billy but not an area I have fished

The only one I can think of near Fort William is Lundavra. There is also Lochy and Arkaig. try the gun shop in the Fort for permits and info on fishing in the area.

Arran I have never been on never mind fished there

The link below will take you to the nearest trout fishery to Fort William. We stayed at the chalets there when we recently fished the River Lochy and this is a small private run fishery by the Farmer who manages the chalets, in cracking surroundings. Don't expect double figure catches or even bags of fish, but you do get unhurried peace and tranquility.

Good luck

Not sure if you are intending to take a kid / beginner but I don't think you will find much proper sport in these waters. The one on the north side of Fort William looks like a rather manky stew pond and is geared towards tourists.

Even for youngsters there can be some great sport with wee brownies on the hill lochs. Fort Willaim is striking distance for the hill lochs in Morar and Ardnamurchan or even Loch Ba.

Not wanting to be a fishing snob, just managing your expectations.....though looking for rainbows in the highlands is a bit like taking mixers to a whisky tasting
