Hi ddave07 There will be all different answers here but im using 9ft dragon tapered leaders from Garry evens and 3lb fulling mill fc fluro for the tippet and i find that does the trick for me

Everyone has there own best setup for the rivers and this is mine

I think you might have to practice with a few different setups. Your own casting action and casting prowess is going to be a big decider in your leader setup.

I like a furled leader and three to four feet of tippet.

Take care

It depends. Usually I use a Cortland Climax tapered about 5x or 6x depending on river.

I think the tippet is more important, I carry a couple of differnt spools of 5-7x. It's hard to remindmyself of this when there's a hatch on, but I tend to blame my fly selection for not catching and I really know from experience that it's probably more likely it's the visibility of the tippet that's doing me in.

I like Orvis super strong leaders with super strong tippet water knotted on - is nice and soft for good dry fly presentation - cheaper than most because comes in a packet of two - a lot of others seem very overpriced to me (Frog's hair?)
