Default Binoculars question

I'd like a new pair mainly for fly fishing but don't wanna go overboard, spotted these which appeal to me, does anyone own a pair/what are your thoughts on them? thanks.

£41 for a pair of waterproof bins.can't be bad.Practika make reliable equpment if not brillant, but at that price no big deal.
I would question you idea of full sized bins.rather than compacts for your fishing bag/ box.

Hi Jim
As a birder I should know more about bins than I do-anyway my advice
would be.
Try and go for a 7or8X mag. rather than a 10x
The bigger the magnification the harder it would be to lock on to the
subject you want to look at - and more picture shake you would get

The 42 I believe is the dia of the object lense and that is ok.
Look at the birdwatching sites-they will give you good advice.
Hope that helps Peter

I also am a birdwatcher.and have spent considerable sums on bins and scopes, but a only carry a pr of compact bushnell w/proof bins when fishing and am happy with them.I agree about the 7x-8x magnification.

H2O

I've used a pair of 10x25's for the last six years, and they are nothing short of awesome. Fantastic optics, really sturdy, totally waterproof and fogproof. I meet alot of twitchers on my travels, and anyone who has tried them really loves them. I wouldn't call myself a twitcher but I do appreciate the bird life around me and I've spend many hours watching them. They are also particularly good in low light conditions. I really would recommend that you at least try a pair before you commit.

Thanks Ducktape, I'm on those lines too I aint a sensitive person by a mile but I didn't expect some of the smartar$e comments of other(s) I have a few bins and I like a bit of bird watching too by the river, had 8x and have 10x 12x, thought too the Praktica WERE pocket size.

Maybe I just worded it wrong.

I'd rather like a halfway decent monocular

Example

7x35 or 8x40 would be nice...

What are you using them for? 10 magnification is hard to keep still and won't pick up fast moving objects as easily as lower magnification binos.

The 7 mag would be ideal for bankside entymology. If you can, find the compact versions (7x36) because one tends to carry them more!

If you can, though, go to a shop and try all the options: what suits one of us may not suit you..
