Fly fishing in Austria is just a great experience - every time I have been there it has been a great adventure.
I know it is probably stock fish and I know some areas are crowden, but this year at Hotel Wutte we had absolutely great fly fishing conditions. Perfect weather, perfect water temperature and perfect company

I just love to sneak in on a fish i have spotted and i love to catch it on a fly i have made it myself - and I love to release it again gently from a barbless hook
In other words - I just love fly fishing

Hey pal - keep it quiet!! I've been enjoying Austrian flyfishing for forty years without being disturbed and now you go and shout it from the rooftops about how good it is! Is nothing sacred anymore!!! C'mon, we don't want this lot on here getting to know too much about it now do we?

I'm off to Austria at the end of this month and am just starting to think about topping up the fly boxes.

Well there is a lot of fishing fishing water down there, so I don't think it it will be a problem, a least if your keep your favorite water to your self

Yes, there are a lot of waters in Austria, but surprisingly few of them are readily available to the visiting angler, at least in the southern part of Austria. What there is tends to be a bit on the expensive side if you're there for a week. 55 euros a day is not cheap fishing in most people's terms and that's on a little known river. Try the Traun and you're getting up in the 75-80euros a day area. I've been lucky in that I've had excellent access to some really good water at no cost through my cousin.
