Talking soames trout water , nr. glasgow.

paid a couple of visits to soames trout fishery over last week or two, some might think its a tad small, couple of acres maybe a bit bigger, but nice if you dont want to walk miles. the fish are really good quality and very hardy wee fighters. the full bhuna of bows on offer, blue, golden, traditional rainbow with the occasional brown turning up,i know theyre there cos ive seen them here and there but very canny indeed.no blanks so far with plenty of top of the water action using cdc.s, spiders, buzzers etc. ......and very reasonable prices
well worth a visit if you ask me. the we guy Dick who manages the place is very civil and keeps me right about flys etc...i,ll certainly be back and would recomend it to anyone else.
tight lines..rwm.

Blimey, that's right on my doorstep and I haven't even seen it! Can you be more specific about the location? How far after the council tip on the right, for example? Is it before the Galston turn-off? Cheers,
Steve

It is probably the smallest fishery in Scotland. Easy to drive past.

Hi Steve,
If you go up the old A77 past the tip, under the bridge, past the turning for the Golf Club on the left, pass the turning on the right (for Little Loch), go ip a slight hill and take the first road on the left. Follow it for a couple of miles and Soames is the small pond on your left. The hut is down in the gorge just off the dam wall.
You could cast from one side to the other no problem, but as said previously the fish are good fighters.
Cheers Diarmid.

Thanks for the directions Diarmid - I'm off Monday and Tuesday after a long weekend of slog, think I'll have a wander down there and maybe wet a line. I like to support as many of my local fisheries as possible, time and money permitting. Be interesting to see how successful I am/not on such a small water - I could certainly do with the help, my casting's not that great!
Cheers,
Steve
