Default More pleasurable way to fish

I first started fly fishing 2 years ago.
My first rod was a Sharps 10ft 7#
This I used up my local pond.
After a few months I decided that this wasn't powerful enough so I
purchased a Hardy Demon 10ft 8#.
After a few outings with this rod I decided that it wasn't doing much.
Didn't help my casting -didn't give me more distance
( not that it was needed because I was fishing off a boat)
All that happened was I got more frustrated at not being able to cast all
the fly line out with a load of backing as well.
I did manage to spook all the fish in the pond by the line crashing on the
water like a ton of bricks.
Put the Demon away and continued with the Sharps.
Last year I started fishing the Clyde so I bought a Marryat 9ft 5#
A lovely little rod-a pleasure to use.
Now! The fish up our pond were getting a bit finicky so I thought that a bit
of finesse would be required.
Posted a thread on here and got some good advise ( thank you all)
So up the pond I went with my Marryat
What a change-I drifted around and targeted the fish, casting a wee dry
or a diawl bach at any surface movement.
My first thoughts were, should I hook a decent sized fish would the rod
handle it.
I did - twice - No trouble at all.
In fact I am now wondering if I will ever use my other rods up the pond
again.
Maybe I will keep them for when/if I fish a big loch or reservoir.
I was beginning to get bored with the way I had been fishing the pond
Just like mackerel fishing- using multiple flies/feathers.
Now it has become far more pleasurable I can now enjoy fishing for
stockies and fishing the rivers as well- and I am loving it.
Just thought I would share this with you all.
Thanks again for all your advice.

Sounds like you are having fun You should try a 3wt you would love it I bet. Oh and have you tried float tubing, that's loads of fun and opens up so much water.

If you could see my girth you would realise that float tubing would be a no-no.
I go in and the water would go out= dry pond maybe.
Prehaps not - it is 6 acres
