Braided Loop Attachment
Hi
I have been using braided loops for a few years now to connect leader to fly line. The problem I have is that after I have attached a loop i.e. thread it on, pull over the sleeve and glue it in place, it all looks fine, but having fished it a number of times it seems as if the line is hinging on the connection where the sleeve is and this is causing the line to crack open exposing the inner core. Probably not a problem in terms of the line snapping, doubt very much this would happen. However the exposed core could allow water ingress in to the line allowing it to sink (sorry talking floating lines here). Not sure if anyone has any information on how to get round this problem. I think I read somwhere you can whip the loop in place, by wrapping thread and around line and end of the loop connection, this would certainly add strength and provide flexibility at the joint. If anyone has any photos and instruction on how to do this that would be splendid, thanks.
The problem might be occuring because I am pushing in about 4 inches of flyline in to the loop, consequently it becomes quite stiff and could cause this hinging.
