Default Dog Walkers- Is it too much to ask???

Why do dog walkers seem to think that it is their given right to excercise their dog anywhere they please?

I fished Upper Roddlesworth Res today and was driven mad by them. One woman stood about 10 feet from me and threw a stick in for her dog, I couldnt believe how inconsiderate/stupid some people can be. There must have been 30 in the space of an hour.

I am a dog lover, and I have a springer that loves the water, but today was just ridiculous.

I couldnt really move around the Res as my family met me for a picnic, and the mud was just too deep for them to be able to follow me.

Very frustrating

In 2009 we couldn't work out why one of our best sea trout pools wasn't fishing well and then we spotted the retrieving dummy in the tree on the far side. It transpired that a local had been bringing their spaniels down to the river just before dark every day and throwing dummies for them. Sea trout are shy at the best of times and clearly this activity was not going to help.

To be fair someone had a polite word and they then exercised their dogs in a part of the river that is not fished. Everyone happy!!

What amuses me most about dog walkers is that they will throw a stick for the dog in your pool and then ask if you've had any luck.

Yes you get loads up at Roddlesworth especially at the shallow end where the river runs in, though I've seen plenty letting their dogs in at the pontoon, despite the signs. That bank is actually anglers only but many let their dogs run loose.

I can live with the dog's in and out of the water but what i cannot cope with is dog SH!T everywhere !!

I often take my little baby girl down our local river side .............. it's like a mine field........... discusting, disgraceful ! take your eyes off the floor and you run a serious risk of shoe sh!t or pram wheel sh!t !.

Best laugh is at one end of a pathway there's a poop bin thingy with a notice of a penalty fine if caught by the council............... I rang them to complain........ answer, sorry but the council have not adopted the walk ways so are not responsible for cleaning them.

Obviously the dog owners should clean up after there dogs......... but many of them don't.

Default Really

I cant believe you are concerned about dog dirt
Really when you go fishing along rivers thatare populated by cows/sheep.
What next will you ask the farmers to keep their wildstock away from the rivers.
I find it totally unacceptable that the current age has taken so much against dogs/owners
Just my 2 cents

glow did you speak to these people. I have found that the vast majority just don't realise and a polite word is enough to make sure they don't do it again.

It is a legal requirement that a dog owner cleans up any mess left by the dog. Whether you agree with it or not doesn't change the fact. However, if a child of yours were to contract Toxocariasis you may have a slightly different view on it.

If i may explain fully...

Firstly, i have absolutely no problem with dog's, i love them to bit's and i used to have my own miniture red english bull called Ali....... can never be replaced and maybe in time i may have another but i'm sure you'l agree it's hard to replace a special dog ! anyway, as i said i have no problem with dog's in and out of the water, things like that. It's the responsible adults that don't clear up after there pets that i have a problem with.
Secondly i never mentioned in my post a ' fishing ' senario did i ?, as i was refering to taking my daughter for a river walk in her pushchair and the amounts of dog sh!t that scatter the walkways here,is not acceptable.
The walkways, public pathways here are not Farmers fields or cattle grounds . The river in question actually runs through the heart of a small city and the walkways are mainly concreted paths designed for us all to share the rivers walks, which are currently spoilt by dog ****.
My threpence.

Default no

Are you serious?
Why not complain about cat owners?
Snobbery is a joke
Cats dirt carries more disease than dogs yet every snob has jumped on the band wagon since legal requirements by the government.
I say leave the DOGS alone.
And by the way i know better than to allow my children to go near dog poo ,
they are well fed.
