Default Info please

I am new to fly fishing, so could I ask for some info on the air flow poly leader? As I see it there is 5ft and 10ft leaders would it be better if fishing a river for wild brownies to use the 5ft one? Would you then use the 10 ft on still water? There seems to be 7 different densities. Also when adding some tippet line how long how long a piece would you put on a 3ft leader and how much would you put on a 10ft leader, and what breaking strain would I require? I went on the forum for the first time last night and it seems very friendly and informative. I also read posts about furled leaders, do these do the same job as the poly leads or are these something different? Sorry for being a pain, but I like to try and get things right. I have bought a 4 piece Greys Grxi 10ft rod and a greys reel complete with 3 spools. I seem to be doing ok with this set up, quite pleased with it . Any advice would be much appreciated.

Lots of posts on furled leaders on here, but as regards the Airflo poly ones, I'd use the 5ft ones, 'Light Trout' for line weights up to 4wt and 'Trout' for 5wt and upwards. Floating for dries/shallow nymph fishing and inter/sinking for deeper work. Add tippet length to suit, about 3' normally works for me for river work but it's worth a bit of experimenting with longer and shorter lengths and, especially for river work, see how this effects your turnover and presentation. I used them loads until I went over to furled leaders and found them pretty good.

Cheers

Andy

Thanks Andy, very informative, will probably try furled leaders first then, and see how I go on.
