Default Storing Your Leaders... Any Favourites?

Hi All.

As a beginner recently becoming more and more obsessed with fly fishing by the day, I have pretty much the full kit now to get me started, however something I notice whilst following various bits of advise I have ended up with a few leaders of different material, length and type.

What are your preferences for storing lots of leaders so they are easy to organise and navigate through when out fishing?

At the moment I am storing them on empty toilet rolls with a slit cut into them to hold the ends of the line. very blue peter... and hardly the sort of thing you want to be pulling out in a boat on a lake!

I have two main criterion personally..

a) Being able to store the leaders safely so they don't bend too much (and get "line memory" I believe it might be called?)

b) Organise the leaders so they have nice labels telling me what they are (you guys seem to be pros but surely you can't tell this information especially some of the more sublte detail by just looking at the line, so how do you overcome this?)

Thanks in advance!

Default JD, Google "Leader Wallet."

Using 'American pricing' they'll run you from about $8 to $12 depending upon the size, how sturdy, etc. But these were designed to address just what you're looking for.

Plastic CD wallet should do the job.

Actually you can - if you carry a micrometer and know the os dia of the nylons you are using .

Simple says learn to make them before you fish - that way you can vary the dropper lengths and spacings to suit the conditions you are actually facing - and cut them to bits at night so you are always running on fresh !

Or you could use the Tom Saville approach - heavy Tynex and a new one every year whether you need it or not !

Don't overcomplicate things is a sensible rule !

Be lucky
