Default Calling River Almond Fishers (West Lothian)

Hi River Almond (West Lothian) fishers, we need your help!

We need to gather written evidence from people who have either caught (obviously accidentally while trout fishing) salmon or sea trout (parr/smolts included), seen salmon leaping at the Midcalder Weir, or have any photo's, "catch returns" etc. as long as they are above the Union Canal Lade draw-off weir that is at the bottom of the Mid Calder sewage works.

We need to get a smolt screen urgently installed on the lade to stop migratory fish smolts from going down the feeder/lade (as most of them are doing now). It's not just migratory fish that will benefit, it would stop adult fish entering the lade and more importantly stop predators from entering the Almond. If we get enough written statements, then British Waterways will comply.

If you could share this with people you know, that would be great, get them to write to us at;
