Default Quality of trout

I fish Pitsford in the main but last week i decided to have a trip to Ravensthorpe. Suffice to say i had a cracking day and returned 12 Rainbows up to 7lb. What struck me though was the quality of fish, the rainbows at Ravensthorpe were bars of silver and fully finned. Now im not naive enough to think they were all over wintered and most must have been stockies. The question i ask though is why dont Pitsford trout look like these? I would assume maybe wrongly that being both AW controlled there fish come from the same place?

although I dont know either of these places, the Pitsford place bust buy a lower grade of fish than the place with the better trout. Lower grade trout are heavily pellet fed and live in smaller cages generally so they can be sold cheaper.
