Default Has anyone caught their 'fish of a lifetime'?

I know that we're all still posting, and therefore still fishing, but has anyone here caught what they believe is their fish of a lifetime? if so, what was it? what was the capture like? explain how it felt to first see the fish?

I do not know if it was my fish of a lifetime (I hope not as I would always like to beat it) but a few years back i was chub fishing with lobworm and hooked in to a lump. Everything went solid and the rod just started bouncing around, i thought i had hooked an escaped carp as i know there are a few in that stretch of the Medway.

A few minutes later and i saw a flash of green and red and a 3lb 6oz perch surfaced and was netted, i think thatis probably the best fish i have caught to date but would love to beat it soon.

7lb 8oz common bream from the Shannon in 1987 will take some beating for me.

Hammerhead shark off the coast of Australia or the first small wild brown out of my local stream.
Both brought a huge smile to my face and will remember for ever.

The fish i caught was not a monster by any means but i have been fishing for 5 years and it is the first time i have ever had a Golden Trout (about 3-1/2lb) from foremark a few weeks ago. didnt even know that they stocked them so could not believe my eyes when i got it in the net! not sure i will ever get one again!

This little Brook Trout. Most beautiful fish I've even seen.

I thought I had after getting a 3lb 4oz Welsh Dee Grayling last year but I’m already thinking bigger is possible and it was not on the Dry Fly so can you ever reach fishing enlightenment

my brother and i fished for tarpon off florida keys about 10 years ago.
On his second cast he hooked up with a 130 lb tarpon (estimate) and after one hell of a battle he landed it...
I think this was his second cast in salt water too. jammy git...
I guess that is his fish of a lifetime. I am still searching for mine....
cheers
JJ
