Default Popped my Cherry..

As someone that's new to fly fishing, And having tried on a few occasions at
my local water to catch my first trout but without success. I tried a new water
and had three subsurface then switched to a dry and had seven off the top
with four landed

How I don't know more luck than skill but for now I'll take it as it comes. All
were returned I could have kept one as I was only fishing on an evening ticket.

Well done you, a good evening. However as you have already noticed not all days are the same.

Well done with the cherry dont worry about the casting it happens, try something simple , keep yer elbow into your side and just use yer arm from horizontal to vertical, the angle of yer wrist will give you the correct angle for yer rod, pause in the vertical for a split second, then forward, remember the more line you have out the longer the pause, dont get put off by mistakes we all do itps dont think about the cast to much as i found out the more you concentrate the worse it gets, i even turn my head away or look elsewhere when i start casting bad , and it all comes backGaz

hi cwmitch2,
well done on catching your first trout, from now on you will be hooked! i am realativly new to fly fishing, i have been doing it for about 5 years, which sounds quite a while but when you consider my father in law who has been doing it for nearly 30 years, still learns new techniques and about new flies and equipment almost daily then 5 years is a short time! where did you go fishing and what did you catch on? my first rainbow was on a spent mayfly at cheshire fishery. also if you are just starting out if you ever need advice about flies or techniques just p/m me and i would be more than happy
to help in any way i can.
