Default choice of flies

As a new member, i hope i am posting this in the correct section.

Having been MANY years away from trout fly fishing, and starting to gather gear together again......may i please ask.....what flies would i include when starting a 'new' collection of flies, for fishing the likes of my local small loch [St Johns].....would it be the old 'traditional' wet patterns?

I am fairly sure things will have moved along since very long break from fishing....so any advice would be very much appreciated.

May i also ask where the best place to buy some 'quality' flies?.......I would rather go for quality...than....quantity.......so def do not want to go down the Ebay road......I realise good flies will have risen a long way in price, since i stopped fishing......but i was hoping that approx £50/60 might get me enough to at least make a start......lol...last of the big spenders, i know..

I used to tie my own, but now, i have niether the eyesight, or the patience to do that now.

Thank you in advance for any help/reccomendations

Brian

I agree with Geordie you'll get a fair amount of quality flies on here for 50/60 quid.Your best bet is to try and get in touch with a good FT who knows your loch. All best anyway.
