Default Depressed about drought in Scotland

Eastern Scottish rivers now seriously low with no substantial rain forecast. River Earn in tragic state with much of riverbed bone dry. Very depressing, not just for the fishing but for the destruction of river life. Abstraction for potatoes just about to kick in when its least welcome. Anyone else in pain?

Hi LDO

I guess most of the Wye fishers along with 4 pals of mine on a week's trip to Pert on the North Esk.

On the contrary BN, the lower reaches fish well to the fly at night in these low water conditions. The temperature's not that high yet so you're in with a good chance. The sea's at 10 centigrade now so it's game on for the bass too.

It's been the same here for the last few weeks no rain and the rivers are at rock bottom. There's rain forecast for the weekend though - hopefully we get a decent bit.

Yeah its the same here in Ireland.Rivers down to bare bones. The spring salmon run has been disappointing due to low river levels.

I wonder how this will affect the smolts that head out to sea at this time of year and how the comorants and herons are feeding on them.

Although the sea trout will be running soon and they run on a spit.
