Default A polite request for info...

Hi,
I am going to be working in the Leuchars / St Andrews area in Fife for a while and wondered if anyone familiar with the area could drop me a pm about the river and loch fishing in the area.
Thanks in advance,
Andy.

Andy,
I havent actually fished the waters i am going to suggest!! Am only going on info gleaned over the years.
Cameron loch early season (till end of june) supposedly has superb top of water sport for wild browns, average 2lbs, after that it gets a bit weedy.
River Eden has reasonable trout, and reguar salmon/sea trout when given water, but difficult on fly as overgrown banks, after about 3 miles inland from st andrews.
Permit details and other waters available here.

Fishing in Fife

Hi Andy,

there are numerous lochs/resovoirs in the area mate, Monikie , quality rainbow fishing at a reasonable price, boat fishing only.

Lintrathen resovoir , another excellent fishery mainly rainbows with a few browns , again boat fishing only.

Rescobie Loch, boat and bank fishing , rainbows and browns

Cameron resovoir, boat and bank fishing for rainbows and browns , this is probably your nearest venue , i have not fished it for a while so cant give you any up to date info , but worth a chuck i would say , does weed up as previously said, but there are areas that still remain fishable.

Loch Leven , brown trout only now , but i would recommend that while you are in the area you must go and have the experience , its not easy fishing but the rewards can be fantastic.

there are others and there are a few "puddles" aswell in the area if you are struggling for time and just looking for a couple of hours fishing.

these are the ones i would recommend Andy , when are you coming down ?? hope this helps a bit,

cheers

Robbie

dont know much about the rivers though.

Thanks very much for the replies, much appreciated.
I will be pitching up in July Robbie, looking forward to fishing the Eden, good dry fly apparently and looking for some pike lure fishing too.
All the best,
Andy.

If you want to try some river fishing check the two links in my signature, and drop me a p.m. nearer the time and i'll arrange permits and take you to some good beats to fish. The eden is nineteen miles long and about 3/4's is fishable the leven is about half that and most of it is accessible.
You are spoiled for choice on the loch/reservoir/fishery front have a look at the trout atlas in the stillwater fishery section of the forum there are around a dozen within thirty minute minute drive from n.e.fife.
