Default Canada next week

So I'm off to Canada (Toronto) next week. Have a day on the River Credit lined up. Any advice from any forum members who have any experience in Canada - particularly on the River Credit - much appreciated. Any quirks? Any particular flies?
All advice appreciated.
Will post a report with pics on my return at the end of next week...
Cheers
Stuart

Thanks. I have done that already. Just wondered if anyone from here had any experience.
Cheers
Stuart.

Most of the northern US and southern Canada have experienced an unusually warm April that put most fishing several weeks ahead of "schedule" as far as spawning and feeding activity. Over the last 2 weeks, the standard advice all over the UGL region has been to fish as if it were early June and not early May.

Whether or not that trend holds for your trip will be interesting because it's been unseasonably cool the week, todays high in St. Paul will be +6 or 7 C and light rain.

The Credit River (as I've heard it usually called) is well known as a Niagara tributary for resident browns and the run fishing includes steelhead and I believe there is also a Chinook and Pink Salmon run, but I have no idea of the timing. There was also at one time an Atlantic run on the Credit, but I don't know any of the details, you'd have to get local advice on if it still even exists.

It's a well-known river, so I would assume the fish will be wary due to angling pressure. Better plan on bringing your A game.

As always, remember to get the proper license and make sure you read and follow both the general regs and any water-specific regs for the Credit.

If you're ever in Ontario with more time, I've heard the don't miss river is the Grand. I seldom get into that part of ON these days, but when I do I'm going to fish that river.

Good luck.

Great post, thank you. All that info much appreciated.

"Better plan on bringing your A game." Ha, that assumes I have an A game! I'm lucky if I bring any game at all...

Once again, thanks, I'll post up a report on my return with some pics.

Cheers
Stuart
