Default which fishing box?

Going to get rid of my boat fishing bag and would like some suggestions on a good sized box. The shakespeare ones look good but I was wondering if there are more than one size. Any help on making a decision would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi
I think there are 2 sizes of the Shakespeare box. Also look at the Stanley rolling toolbox with wheels and handle they seem to be popular within the boat fishing fraternity. Available at B&Q etc.
Here is a link Tool Boxes, Cases & Chests from B&Q | free next day delivery

Default Fishing Boxes

There are two sizes of Shakespeare box, the smaller one is the beta, still holds a lot of gear. The larger one is the same size as the Daiwa box but they're ludicrous price. B&Q do the Stanley rolling box and their own brand.

The shakey boxes are very popular for what you have in mind. They do come in two sizes, the smaller one is called the beta box. You can also get lots of adaptations for them and can personalise them as far as your imagination will let you go.

One of the best i have seen was a guy at my local fishery who had stuck a large sheet of foam to the inside of the lid. Instant large built in fly box.

Default seat box

I come from coarse fish back ground and have a beta seat box from 18 years ago, still the same as the day i bought it £15 back then they are indestructable, totally weather proof and i am stoked i kept it as i use it on my boat trips now and it is really handy. i personally think it is plenty big enough, also i think less is better and do we really need a lot of the kit we take (own? )
that is what i love about fly fishing the simplicity and freedom to roam
p.s. you could always get a cushion to go on top if you were planning on sitting on it, or buy one of the those foam boat seat under a £10 a fit perfectly.

Technically I have to comment that I am still using the Old Glassfibre pre Plastic Shakespeare Original - so that's 35 years and it may have been me who first stuck the ethafoam inside the lid .

I have rolls available for money !

These days I make a nice blow up cushion to sit on the thing as well !

The big Shakespeare Box is still British made so it is a bit more expensive than the Stanley job - but they don't half last !

Best wishes

Steve P

going to go for the stanley one from B&Q. Only thing that might be a problem is the metal closing clasps, think they might go kind a rusty after a wee while. One question guys, for those of you who have boxes, what/where do you get tubs of the correct size/price for putting your fly line spools and other things in? Anyone whos got the stanley one, do you use the top tray for anything? looks handy but cant think what I might use it for.

Thanks, S
