Default A no win situation

A few weeks ago I was out walking the dog and happened on a couple of teenagers fishing, being a club official I showed them my bailiffs card and asked to see their permits, the oldest one said, "our dad's getting them today", I said "OK, but make sure you carry them with you", I then looked down and they were using methods we don't allow on our waters so I asked them to pack up and go and read the permit and get to know the rules about was is and isn't allowed. Today I was met with a, "oi mate", I looked round to see a person unknown to me approaching and he looked a tad upset, he hadn't even got within 10 yards and he started spouting at me, then he proceeded to tell me I've been pestering his kids, I said, "I haven't but I did tell them to leave the water as they had no permits to fish and were using methods that the club don't allow" the reply was instant, "leave my kids be, get a job and get a life", I tried to explain then he came to me again, I thought I was going to get some but the finger was wagging and he seem to think I was a friend as he kept calling me mate I stated that anyone breaking club rules will we asked to attend a disciplinary meeting and if deemed necessary, they will be banned from the club, then I got the "your a jumped up f*ckwit knowitall and its you that should be kicked out of the club", my reply was, "your entitled to your opinion but I'll be fishing for a while yet as I'm not breaking any rules", he walked away again telling me that if I didn't keep away from his kids he'd sort me out.
As far as I'm concerned, a rule is a rule and they are not there to be broken, if his offspring continue, they'll be without any fishing, but given the mentality of them they'll probably still go fishing anyway.

Scum

thing is you have no idea in what the kids went back telling dad...
though i am sure you know your self they told lies.

The parent is that bad , guarantee the kids will be back before time and will no doubt give you lip. I am sure there loving father has told them what to say if it happens again.
I would not be surprised if the guy gets in touch with your club to make some kind of complaint ( if he is that intelligent enough of course ).

Its nice to help people to get into the sport and teach them the ways and means, but this sort of thing stops you from offering sometimes. You are perfectly within your right, i wouldn't be upset by it, the father is a pig ingnorant to$$er and has probably recieved the family and life he deserves.JB

Don't let it worry you kernel, I think you did the right thing.
Some people just can't accept you are doing your job on behalf of the rest of us.

I walk my dog along my club water banks almost daily , All to often I encounter the local knuckle dragging brigade .What to do? Call the police.... waste of time... I ask politely take the abuse and suggest they move on as I will be calling the boys in blue, The police are generally a waste of time .

They usually move on to come back later. I am afraid it is typical these days. I have even witnessed parents dropping kids of near the river with the gear obviousley knowing full well they were fishing illigally.

Personally i would bring back the stocks and public flogging for poaching I think medievil justice had a lot going for it.

How about a lily liberal approach to welcoming them to get involved?

... a new members or interested parties weekend or two, in conjunction with river maintenance with the big boys ... you might find you’ve got some passionate river loving new recruits?

.. nah, just whip their **** and fight the *******s!

I think you have taken a perfectly reasonable and balanced approach to the situation. And are now aware that they are a problem that will continue to you and other fair members of society.
The best thing you can do is wait untill the entire family group is together and just kill them.
