I am looking at purchasing a rod and reel for dry fly fishing on a reservoir and was hoping to find something that i could also use on the river Wharfe for both Nymph and dry fly fishing.
I was thinking maybe a 8ft 5wt rod might do the trick. My budget is around the one hundred mark.
Could anyone give me some advise.

Hi Andrew, I think a 9ft #5 would cover your situation better than an 8ft.
You may get away with it on a medium sized river, but bugging and a bit of reservoir fishing is better catered for with a 9ft. IMO.
