Default News from Assynt

Heard from a friend in Lochinver today that a local angler has been doing some serious ferox fishing on Loch Assynt in late March/early April.
Starting with a couple of 8 pounders he finished with a fish of 16 lbs !!
Just goes to show the potential of this huge and underfished loch and a fine reward for many hours of trolling in cold wet weather.

The fish are out there........

I'm guessing it won't be underfished for much longer ....

Fair comment, scobo, but I don't think there's any danger. It's already well known for its ferox and quality browns, yet it's still hardly fished.
There's so many lochs in this area that most visitors, myself included, dont even bother to fish this one. This is a reminder of what we're missing.

Accomodation in this area is very limited so I can't see busloads of trophy hunters turning up, and with only 2 boats available for day ticket anglers
there will never be any significant angling pressure.

However, there are many local lochs I wouldn't dream of naming on a forum.

Good on you muddler !
I'd hate to see the lochs in that area subject to "combat" fishing.
