Hi Gary,

Meant to reply to this earlier but have been busy. I have fished on Tummel a couple of times, always trolling a spinner or lure behind a small boat. Unfortunately I haven't been very successful with Pike though! However, I have caught a few lovely wild Brownies and a relative of mine even caught a Salmon! Anyway, from what I have heard and seen (saw a guy catch a nice double once trolling) with regards to Pike fishing it's best to fish relatively near to the shore. In my experience, the shore line is quite shallow for a bit and then drops off very steeply, you want to be fishing on that drop off idealy. I have also heard that the top end of the Loch near the sailing club is better for Pike. Hope some of that helps, sorry I couldn't be of more assitance! N

Gary, I know your fishing for pike on the Loch, but as your staying at the Parkdean Caravan site (I was there last year with the grand kids, take plenty of money etc hope you have been before!!! if not PM me for full details) you will at times see a cracking river right next to the site that you may just want to fish. Don't! unless you know of the water that is let loose when they generate, it can rise a metre or two very very quickly so please watch out for that.

Some nice Pike there Gary, out of interest what lake/Loch are they from? Also, I haven't heard about this small trout stream, where abouts is it exactly? N

Cheers Gary, I thought it may have been the River Tummel. Good luck on the Loch! N

Fishing is good down this way, trying to expand my fishing and get proficient at river fly fishing! Incidentally, have you ever fly fished the Loch for Trout, or caught any trout from the Loch for that matter? I have had some lovely wild trout up to a pound when spinning. N
