Default Using a Singapore leader -- Video

Lads, I recently watched a youtube or similar of a guy making tapered leaders.

He used one long piece of mono, then twisted it back on its self to double the dimeter for the midsection, then twisted it back on itself to double up the butt section.

It seemed an incredibly simple method, no idea hoe effective though

I have searched this forum but cannot find a link to it anywhere.

Please point me in the right direction.

Has anybody used this style leader?

Thanks

Sounds like a Singapore Leader.

There you go. The guy in the vid calls it a furled leader, over here we call it a Singaporean leader, dead simple to make, I've been using them for a long time.

Cheers Dave

Question Now that's one of the more unusual 'tricks' I've seen in a long time.

But the obvious question (for me anyway) is what did/does that bring to the party?

Brilliant.

Thanks Andrew and Ballthebuilder.

Not as easy as it looks!!

But with patience it does make a very nice leader

Just given this a try and it's a piece of cake! Though I don't think I'll stop using Rod Dibbles furled leaders just yet.
Question. How do you make 'em knotless?

Cheers

Andy

I saw the video last year and made up a leader 4ft for small stream fishing, very easy to do.They turn over a fly with ease, tangle free ,land softly, and should last a season. However i have recently bought some furled leaders from (Mr Trout) on the forum,it's taken the casting and presentation up to another level. The DIY mono furled leaders do the job well, but for the best presentation IMHO you will not get better than a (Mr Trout) furled leader attached to a (Cadno Silk Fly Line).
