could be but hard to know the size from the photo. Another way to check for otters are slides down the bank and into the water, usually will be some footprint and scales near it aswell. A section of river where I fish has a slide near every decent salmon lie, found salmon scales a few times too

I haven't found any slides into the water! or any scales or remains yet! but we don't get any salmon in the river till late summer.
I think i caught a glimpse of a otter late one night last year! but only saw it foe a second!
Thanks for the replies guys.
Robert

looks minkie to me, but is hard to tell with no scale. Any otter pads i've seen on my clays are a clear oval shape.

robert, next time your out , have a scout round for some poo that is on top of a scraped up mound a common sign that they are around to get there scent up high ,and if you want to smell that poo it should be a fairly sweetish smell that also may smell of fish ,or inspect it for fish scales/fish bones

Bruce, are you mad look for poo and smell it I would hazard a guess and say the size of the print would be 2'' square
