I usually fish wets at some point of a fishing session usually size 12 and 14s a butcher or bloody Butcher on the point a duller fly on the middle dropper, and a size 14 Spider pattern on the top dropper, I usually fish them when they are near the top of the water using a slow retrieve, and I do well using this method, as I can get fed up pulling Lures,
or sometimes i fish just the two wets, or two spiders, fishing the Spiders can be deadly during a Buzzer hatch.

I often fish wets at Grafham, especially if there's a bit of a wave and the fish are fairly near the surface. Use a larger point fly for turnover and use a steady, sometimes jerky retrieve so they pop enticingly through the waves. Takes are usually pretty positive.

When up in Scotland I've found red and black colours to be the best as the lochs I fish are often peaty.

It's much like the rest of the midland ressies, large open expanses of water which can be daunting to start with. The fishing can vary between very frustration to excellent.
