Default That's my boy.

Last year, a work mate expressed some interest in starting to fly fish and asked if I could keep him right with tackle and set ups etc. I got him fixed up with a well balanced outfit at an excellent price (thanks goes to Mick Bell @ Bloke). And I also made sure he had a decent selection of flies and knew how best to use them according to the little knowledge I have; most of that gleaned from Stan Headley and Bob Wyatt (Thanks Stan & Bob).

Half an hour ago, my mate phoned me from a lochside. He was ecstatic, having just caught a 3.5 lb trout. I mean he was babbling with excitement. In fact, he is that excited, he phoned me again 5 mins ago with an update, as he'd caught another fish, but not as big as the one that made his arm ache, so he tells me.

It is a great feeling to help someone catch the bug like that. Almost like being a proud parent.

Well done Gander! Just rewards for time and effort spent, by both parties.

I've had a similar experience this season helping a good mate of mine get into fly fishing. I remember seeing his face when he caught his first, warms my soul to think I've set him on his way. I'm not sure his missus has the same point of view.
