What about Scarborough for trout fishing either stillwater or rivers. Going there in July with the family. Any info would be great

scaling dam is a water board reservoir, big and windy with trout and pike

a bit further down the road is Lockwood Beck which has a pretty good reputation

http://www.lockwoodfishery.co.uk/

no more than 30-40 minute drive from whitby....even less during the week (weekends the moors road is full of bikes and caravans!)

Hi there, A bit further north theres Scaling dam, never fished it though, check on the web...also not far from Whitby there used to be cheap fishing on the river Esk at Ruswarp, caught some nice brownies years ago.

google that area and you should get more.

Whitby-what a fantastic place- great beer-over the moon fish and chips and
a lovely peir you can fish off . Wont get sea sick
Don't feed the gulls and definitely don't go out after dark unless you have
got a bit of garlic- a cross and a big wooden stake.
Went there a couple of years ago, it was the best holiday ever.
Trout fishing?
You will have a good time.

indeed !!!!!!!!!!

The climax for UK tuna was reached in 1933 with a fish that is still the UK record weighing 851lbs taken off Whitby in Yorkshire, again by Mitchell-Henry.
