i went to spend a few quid today at orvis farnham. i was after a 6ft6in 3wt superfine trout bum. arrived at the shop and they had 10% off,great stuff. got up stairs and they have a deal on in addition to the 10% discount. buy a premium rod and orvis line(ok i can sell it on ebay) and get a free battenkill reel.all looking good.
no rod in stock,in fact none in the country. my next question "can you order me one". "yep but i cant tell you when it will get here due to the delays with icelands volcano".

there is no problem, i am not parting with 400+ notes for a rod that might take over a month to get here. i will wait and buy it when it comes in. i just wont get the deal but im just a bit gutted that i couldnt get it today.

I contacted Orvis through their web site to order something, can't remember what.

Anyhow had an email saying it wasn't in stock at Head Office but they found one for me in one of their stores in Scotland. It arrived next day.

pirate, could you please pass on my thanks to your better half, i was at the stockbridge store this afternoon when i got your message. i much prefer to buy my rods in person as i can then check out the rod in person. on contacting the store this morning, steven informed me that he had one in stock so i headed down to pick it up. on assessing the rod it seemed to have an excessive amount of filler in the cork. something that really gets my goat and this is why i like to buy in person. the guys in the store were in agreement about the filler.but all was not lost. we set up the same rod but in a 4wt and it was just what i was looking for. got the free reel deal and the 10% discount that i missed out on yesterday. a fantastic service from orvis both at stockbridge and from your good lady. just a few issues with their live online stock system but then again i got what needed in the end. thanks jon.
