Default I am the proudest father

Not even 2yrs old, and my daughter can identify Tarpon, Rainbows, Brownies, Graying, Perch and Pike, courtesy of an old tackle cataloge.

Can't wait till she lands her first 20lbs salmon

My 4yr old girl wants me to take her fishing and wants a pink fly rod
She'd talk the ears off me if I took her!

Don't know about a 'pink' fly rod (all be it I think they are available in a full size rod), but 'over here' you can get 'small kid sized' (usually a closed faced) spinning rod/reel out fits. Actually (generically) called 'Snoopy rods' after the cartoon character.

Are they any good? Actually, many of them are pretty good bit's ok kit. We actually have annual winter steelhead competitions up in Washington State where these little 3' rods are all you can use. Some 'honking big' fish get landed each winter with these little things.

Here's what they look like with a fish on: YouTube- Steelhead on a Snoopy Rod

Actually, I think she's gonna be more of a bait fisher, she's always got her hands full of worms and woodlice, and snails in her pocketses

I'm going to be very restrained and not step up onto that soap box.
My dad remembered me catching my first fish at 11, and my first salmon at 33. And I know both meant a lot to him. To be fair, I think every fish I caught meant a lot to him.
I hope my llittle girl does want to fish. Mainly because it's something I can pass on to her, but also so I can tell her about her grandad.

I totally agree Idris, I don't understand this obsession with pink and girls nowadays - but the wife just thinks it's another thing I rant about (which it probably is ;-) ). Anyway, pink is not a good colour for blending in with nature

I must admit, i can't wait until I can introduce them to the joys of fishing, and also to the misery of watching the Boro
