Default £250

I have £250 to blow on fly fishing tackle. Currently I use a Shakespeare Odyssey 7/8 2 pce rod with a Ron Thompson reel and a couple of lines (WF8F and WF8I). I live a minimalist lifestyle!!

I am at the mercy of you blokes (and ladies) who may be able to recommend what rod/reel/line combo I should go for. I am leaning towards PP lines (as discussed on here). I do not want a posing set-up, purely functional.

I fish mainly lakes and ressies from the bank-side.

Thanks in advance

FF

If i were you, i'd get another odyssey maybe a little longer, or lighter, two Wychwood SLA reels (one to match each rod), 4 PP lines (2 floaters, 2 inters, and 2 various sinkers) a good selection of flies and a nice new net and priest.

Set up both rods, one with a floater, one a sinker so you can quickly change from one to the other. I have an odyssey, and for the price (and more) it's excellent.

Sonik SK3 9' 6" or 10' rod, with the new Sonik SK3 cassette reel, three lines from the Pirate.
That should still leave you about £50 to spend on flies etc.

Have a look at Snowbee you should be able to get a couple of rods + a cartridge reel. Get lines from PP. Snowbee website has some rods in their warehouse clearance they are real bargains, you will probably get 3 or 4 rods
for under £200.
