Default What wonderful people anglers are!

Since taking up fly fishing with the family last September, I've been astounded with the friendliness and generosity of fellow anglers. Not only time and brilliant advice but actually giving away flies that are working to help us catch! Last year at Whitton Castle a gentleman gave a big orange fly to us as he left saying he'd had marvellous fun with it and noticed we'd not caught. Amazing. In September at Whinney Loch another angler gave his time to us showing us casting techniques and then went through our fly box showing what works and when. My son hadn't caught a fish before (on the fly) so he gave us a bloodworm and first cast, Jonny was in to his first Rainbow.
Yesterday we were again at Whinney Loch and a kind gentleman gave three flies to Jonny as we didn't have much big and black. Such brilliant, kind people.

I was at Witton lakes a few years ago and a bloke who was packing up gave me a brown buzzer as he noticed I'd caught nowt, within an hour I'd caught 5 fish and was well happy, the next time I was there he came over and asked if I'd caught with his fly, I showed him the picture I'd taken, gave him his fly back and another 6 to boot, he was as happy as Larry and was very surprised by my generosity.

Its nice to be helped, but its nice to show thanks and pass on to others.

Thumbs up Hands across the sea.

There's been several instances where I've remarked that a given fly (photo's or step by step) would make a great fly for fishing for our local Steelhead in the Rogue River.

Comes a PM asking for my address and I'm staring at my mail box a few days later. The latest treats came from Savage Take and they're some of the coolest low water flies I've seen in ages. Have no idea what he tied these with (material) but it's something I've never seen on my side of the Pond.
