Default fly fishing on a stag do!

Hi everyone! you wouldnt believe how excited i am right now, but my best mate just asked me to be his best man and i am literally going through all the scenarios in my head!

he wants to have a standard down to earth day out with the boys and i am reading into that that he wants to have a cracking day out with the boys and do all the things man was meant to do!

by that i mean spot an animal, kill it and eat it! what better than going fishing? (lets face it - who could actually kill a deer or a horse?)

i'd love to hear any suggestions you have - the plan is to go fly fishing, have a bbq to celebrate our achievements and top it up with an extra-currlicular award

Couldn't have put it better Grouse.... so I won't even try. Ummm WTF!

Always struck me as a strange thing to do to ones best mate... ask him to be best man Spend a year organising this, arranging that, checking the other, writing a speech.... then spend the wedding day on tenterhooks fretting over this, organising that, being nice to numpties, panicking about yer speech... In other words, make the next year of his life, and the wedding day, hell. Nice. Sort of thing one should ask ones brother to do

Haha - the horse thing is a French thing. Its not actually that bad at all and very similar to beef. It does get a lot of people shocked though! Not as easy to gut as fish but i seriously would reccomend 'trying everything in life' lol

The scene I am picturing is going to one of those trout farms and all sitting around fishing for our dinner with some beers and maybe something else to keep us busy. It sounds like great fun to me, but I am not sure if maybe I am missing the point or if we will annoy the other anglers if we are a little loud?

I would suggest that you should go 2 ur nearest small stilwater fishery. You will probably need to hire some rods. I'm guessing you have never been fishing before so I would contact the owner of the place and ask him or her more about it.

Sorry to dissapoint you but you can't fish at trout farms. Cos that would be like going and shooting a farmers sheep.

You might be better off on a boat going for mackerel.. They taste much nicer with beer and people don't get so worried about them getting chapped on the head. And some of these boats can hold a huge amount of beer. Nearly enough to last half a day.

LOL,
reminds me of my wedding day!
Me and best man went shooting wood pidgeons over decoys on morning of wedding.
Field of peas recently sown, pidgeons were piling in!
By 1 p.m we had 85 in bag.
Wedding was at 3 p.m.
we were desperate to hit ton!
1.55 p.m. 98 in bag, three doos come gliding in, land in pattern, i fire one shot at first bird, and kill other 2 at same time!
collect gear leg it home shower shave change just in time, limo arrives to get us both to church.
MRS ARRIVES TWENTY MINUTES LATE, JUST AS WEDDING MARCH STARTS, BEST MAN NUDGES ME AND SAYS,"WE COULD'VE STAYED AND GOT 150"
So go fishing / shooting, whatever, enjoy.
regards
bert
