Default Grafham/Rutland boat width

The Mid Northants Flyfishers have taken away their thwart boards from Pitsford, so I need to make my own. The Pitsford boats are 160cm at the widest, but obviously the Grafham and Rutland boats are bigger- anyone have the measurement? I suppose I could phone up Coulams, the makers, but I was hoping to make one this weekend.
Thanks,
Gads

Hi Gads.

I think 6' (or 1.83m in new money) between lipping/stops will be okay.
This fits both Rutland and Grafham boats fine (it won't span the middle of course, but then you wouldn't need to).
My suggestion would be to finish one end with a lipping/stop , but leave the other end unfinished , a few inches longer than necessary .
Then , when you take it to Rutters you can measure for yourself , you can clamp the "loose" end with a g clamp for a day.

You must be aware of the old chippys saying......"measure twice, cut once!"

Regards

Jeff

Bummer - wonder why they did that

If I go there again, I'm screwed - no room for a thwart board in my motor

Probably because some tight @r$e$ refuse to pay the 50p[?] hire fee!
Same problem at Grafham! GWFFA supply the boards at considerable cost and effort then get hardly any return from their use.
Strange that all the boards can be out on match days and the money box is virtually empty??
They probably won't get replaced as and when they get worn out or broken.

Thanks Jeff, I'll leave the end stop loose as you recommend, and take my cordless driver with me. I am going to get the router out and make the Rolls Royce of all thwart boards, perhaps veneer it with rare tropical hardwoods!
I think the boards went because, as Accony suggested, no one put the money in the box, and the Pitsford boards were getting rather spintered. I would have thought AW could hire boat seats out, if they were a little more enterprising.
Sorry you can't get a board in your sports job Charlie, there's a downside to everything!

Yep, I doubt there was a full box at Rutland on Saturday after the Lexus went out plenty of boards taken though

I'm sure a lot of anglers take the boards for granted, I being a member of RWFF am not one of them as I wouldn't have anything to attach my TLD to if the boards were taken away so pop 50p in the box everytime.

Come on lads put your money in the box or you will have no room for complaint when the boards are not replaced.
