Default Leaders

I want to make up my own flurocarbon leaders for trout lake fishing. I want a team of three flies - a pointer and two droppers.

My question is if I use a 10 ft leader what distance should I have between the top of the fly line and the droppers? I'm using a 10 ft rod so should I consider a longer or shorter leader or is 10 ft alright?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Ray.

for 3 flies I would use a longer leader than 10ft, nearer 15 or even 18,
5 to 6ft between flies, need at least 5ft to the top dropper and a bare minimum of 3 to 4ft between each (unless the water is very dirty, then closer may be beneficial)
With a 10ft rod, with the top dropper in the tip ring only leaves 12ft to point fly, fairly easy to manage.

Nix with the fluorocarbon - you are pretty much a beginner from the post .

Use ordinary nylon and at the least your knots will be a whole lot less vulnerable !

Starting up one major trick is to have the second dropper nearer the point fly than the bob dropper ( effectively tapers the system ) Try at 15' initially with the top dropper 5 feet from the connection , the 2nd dropper 6 feet below that and the point 4 feet below that .

Good luck

^^^ Don't use fluorocarbon unless you can tie perfect knots
