Default 10ft hardy sirrus for grisle/seatrout fishing?? Need advice from some with experience

Hello,
What are these rods like? I am thinking of buying one.

I have been offered a 7# but most of the lines I own are a #8 line. Would a hardy sirrius happlily handle an 8 weight line?

So whats everyones opinion on this rod?

thanks

I've got one chap and yes it would handle the 8# lines perfectly well.

It's not a bad rod and casts a nice line, but I wouldn't pay to much for one. I prefer my Platinum XD to be honest so I don't use it much anymore.

I've got 3 rods from the sirrus range 7ft 3 weight 8ft6 5 weight and 10ft 8 weight. Cant fault any of them.

I rate the 10ft 8 weight and use it for sea trout and also for rainbows on the reservior. Not had any sizeable sea trout but it handles rainbows up to 5lb fine. Casting is excellent and i have great confidence with it in the dark casting with no tangles and turning over the fly fine. I cant comment about it being a grilse rod as i use a 13ft 10 weight Greys Greyflex M2 for my salmon fishing.

Hope this helps
Jonathan

The sirrus is a great rod if you like it, and a poor one if you don't. sorry to sound cryptic, but a rod's action is all in the caster. A sirrus 10 foot 8 weight could easily handle a grilse/sea trout/salmon, but so could an odyssey if so charged. personally, ive cast one, and didnt buy because i didnt like it for the money. In the end i bought a bloke XL50 10' 7 weight and absolutely love it. Thats my taste, but if you prefer the syrrus, go for it.
