Might I suggest you obtain Lefty Kreh's book "Casting".

In it on page 63 is an article by Dr George W. Yu, who appears to be Lefty's Physio. It's all about preventing shoulder injury by fly casting.

Avoid elevating your elbow on the back cast. Keep your elbow in a level plane and you will avoid all sorts of shoulder and rotator cuff problems. It worked for me and I am pushing 70.

In my opinion, Lefty Kreh is the finest teacher of the single handed fly rod in the world.

My casting shoulder does the same but that said I can dislocate it at will , I will try the level thing but I am sure it will not stop me if it does not work

Can't say I've developed injuries through fly fishing but I've occassionally aggravated injuries picked up through other activities and had to adjust accordingly.

Morayflyfisher had a great link for aids and supports if the problem persists but sorry, I can't remember it.

If Rons advise fails, do as I do. Plenty of Deepheat and pray for the next serial mag being 'How to build a Trebuchet'
