Default Buzzer Basics

Hello All,

So far I've only been fishing with lures. I'll be having a crack with some lovely looking buzzers from Scratch (cheers Rob, arrived yday!), but not really sure what to do...

What line/kind of retrive should I use? Is it best to use smaller ones? Brighter ones? Is static under an indicator a good method?

Any advice really appreciated. Hoping to give them a go at Barlow Lakes tomorrow.

Ta,

Rich

If you are fishing at Barlow Lakes near Sheffield, you need not go more powerful than a 5weight outfit with a floating line. Set up a 9 to 10 foot leader using 5lbs line and put a bung on it if allowed. Tie on one fly at this stage. Degrease the leader by the way with Ledasink.

The bung can be set a different depths until you find the trout.

At this time of the year a buzzer that is black or olive green will work well. Cast out, wait a few moments for everything to settle down and then start a very slow fiqure of eight retrieve. A take will be indicated by the bung disappearing. You also might feel the take if the fish is travelling away from you.

You might even get a take as the fly sinks. Get ready for any eventuality and concentrate.

Good Luck
