Default Has Scottish fishing gone metric?

I was just reading a few websites on the North and South Esk in Scotland.

Salmon Fishing in Scotland - River North Esk and FishPal - Scotland - Esks - When to Fish
and was reading this part of the fishpal site:

"Autumn fishing
From early September large multi-sea-winter fish enter the rivers. These fish typically range from 7 - 12 kilos and are a major incentive for anglers. This run continues throughout... "

Kilos? Kilos! What are they?

Just wondering if fishermen in Scotland use metric system for fish weight? I can't, I'm still pretty much Imperial for most things. I still have maps of Scotland going back a number of decades that are in feet and miles, I find it difficult to use the new os maps as they seem to all be metric and don't list mountains in feet - I can't do metres!

Is it just me or do you prefer imperial system as well e.g. feet, miles, pounds, ounces, pints, gallons, stone, fl oz?

The fish returns to the Esk fishery board have to be returned in the metric numbers, think most of the the anglers i speak to on the Pert beats all speak in old numbers. The back end fish would average between 10lb to 18lb with a scattering of larger fish up to 25lb and above. If you get good water you will get fresh fish running most of the river in a day. Many of the anglers practice catch and return only keeping the odd fish which can only be very good for the future.

There hasn't been an imperial units map of Scotland printed in the better part of forty years.

We are in the EU up here and we have computers and everything. Metric was ages ago...

(I still think of fish in lbs too and I'm a youngish metric person )

I'm comfortable with either system but still refer to fish in lbs and inches alright.
